Dear Parents and Students
You probably already know that the state now grades each of its schools with a letter grade, A through F, based on the AIMS scores, for that school. Alpine Elementary School has been an "A" school (used to be called Excelling) every year since the state instituted this particular grading system. What you might not know, is that Alpine is ranked in the top 2% of ALL schools in Arizona, which includes public schools, charter schools alternative schools and private schools. Only 476 schools (out of almost 3,000 schools) in Arizona were rated as "A" schools, and we are in the top 10% of those! Hard work and dedication from our staff and students makes this possible. Congratulations Alpine Elementary School!!
On December 10th we held our Geography Bee. Our school winner this year is Brendon L., and our runner-up is Jacob R. Congratulations, boys!
Dean H. took 4th place at the County Spelling Bee on February 19th. Way to go, Dean!
There was finally enough snow to take grades 3 through 8 skiing on February 12th. They had a great time. Unfortunately, K through 2nd grade weren't able to go sledding, so they stayed and worked on Valentine projects.
After-school Enrighment Classes for cooking still has a couple more weeks to go. Rocket class begins this week. The dates are March 3rd, 6th, 11th and 13th.
Read the Most day was a lot of fun. The kids read, took tests, watched a video, ate pickles and had their picture taken! Our school read and tested on 221 Dr. Seuss books. Nationwide there were 4,987,949 Dr. Seuss books read and tests taken. I think we did great for our small school!
The Science Fair will be on March 12th and 13th. Watch for paperwork coming home, or contact Mrs. Fairley for more information.
Parent/Teacher Conferences on are March 20th and 21st. Dismissal on both days will be at 11:05. Don't miss this important time to discuss your child's progress with his/her teacher.
Spring Break begins on March 24th. School resumes on March 31st. Enjoy some spring weather!
If you arrive late to school with your child, please come in to the school and sign in your child. There is a sign in and sign out sheet in the office. Thank you!
Please be aware that 25mph is the posted speed on our School Road (#2311). Please keep our students safe.
If you have questions or ideas, don't hesitate to call or stop by the school.
Mrs. Shirley Brazel
